Build Your Vaccination Schedule

Select the person and enter the information needed to suggest vaccination dates.

Preferred option. Enter LMP and gestational age will be calculated automatically.
If LMP is entered, this field is calculated automatically and does not need manual entry.

Mother's Td / Previous Pregnancy History

If this is the 2nd, 3rd or later baby, enter the last baby's date of birth and the documented Td history. The last-baby date is used as supporting context; the vaccination record is used to decide Td-1, Td-2 or a later dose.

Example: enter 1 for the second pregnancy, 2 for the third pregnancy.
Helpful for determining the interval since the previous pregnancy/birth.
No individual Td-1, Td-2, Td-3, Td-4 or Td-5 dates are required here.
If there is a previous baby and the youngest baby was born within the last 3 years, the planner will suggest Td booster only.
Why this matters: WHO recommends tetanus-containing vaccination during pregnancy according to previous exposure. For women with no reliable history, two doses are given at least 4 weeks apart, with the second dose at least 2 weeks before birth when possible. Later doses build longer-term protection.

Pregnancy Vaccination Schedule

Vaccination during pregnancy is based on the national programme, previous vaccination history, gestational age, current health risks and vaccine availability. In India, Td is part of the Universal Immunization Programme for pregnant women.

Vaccine Suggested timing Who / when Planning note
Td-1 As early as possible in pregnancy Pregnancy First Td dose during pregnancy when indicated under the national programme and based on previous Td/TT vaccination history.
Td-2 4 weeks after Td-1 Pregnancy Second Td dose, normally scheduled four weeks after Td-1.
Td booster When eligible from previous vaccination history Pregnancy A booster may be used instead of repeating the primary course when the woman has received the appropriate recent Td/TT doses.
Influenza vaccine Seasonal; during pregnancy Any trimester when indicated WHO recommends inactivated influenza vaccination during pregnancy. Seasonal programme and product availability vary by country.
COVID-19 vaccine According to current national policy and vaccine availability Pregnancy WHO 2026 guidance recommends one dose during each pregnancy for pregnant women, at any stage, ideally during the second trimester. Local implementation should be followed.
Tdap Common international recommendation: 27–36 weeks Third trimester Tdap is recommended during each pregnancy in several national guidelines to provide maternal and newborn protection. Use the local programme/product recommendation.
RSV maternal vaccine Third trimester where available/programmed Pregnancy WHO recommends maternal RSV vaccination from around 28 weeks onwards where this product is available and included in the local programme.
For a 2nd or 3rd pregnancy: The planner does not automatically label the dose as a “booster” merely because the mother has had a previous baby. It first checks the documented Td/TTCV dose history and the interval since the latest documented dose. WHO guidance supports longer-term protection through appropriately spaced doses; women with unknown history should be managed as unknown rather than assumed protected.
Important: Do not use this page to independently choose a vaccine when you have a severe allergy history, previous serious vaccine reaction, significant immunocompromise, acute illness, a high-risk pregnancy, or a travel/exposure situation. Seek individualized clinical advice.

India National Immunization Schedule — Infants & Children

The table below follows the core National Immunization Schedule information published under India's Universal Immunization Programme. Japanese Encephalitis vaccination applies in designated endemic areas/programmes.

Age Vaccines Planning information
At birth BCG; Hepatitis B birth dose; OPV-0 Hepatitis B birth dose should be given as early as possible, preferably within 24 hours.
6 weeks OPV-1; Pentavalent-1; Rotavirus-1; fIPV-1; PCV-1 Follow the current UIP schedule available at the child’s vaccination facility.
10 weeks OPV-2; Pentavalent-2; Rotavirus-2 Continue the primary infant series on schedule.
14 weeks OPV-3; Pentavalent-3; Rotavirus-3; fIPV-2; PCV-2 Complete the primary series according to the national schedule.
9–12 months MR-1; JE-1 where applicable; PCV booster JE is applicable in designated endemic areas/programmes.
16–24 months MR-2; JE-2 where applicable; DPT booster-1; OPV booster Confirm exact availability and eligibility at the vaccination session.
5–6 years DPT booster-2 Give according to the national schedule.
10 years Td Tetanus-diphtheria booster under the national schedule.
16 years Td Tetanus-diphtheria booster under the national schedule.
For parents: Keep the child's vaccination card/record safely and take it to every vaccination visit. If a dose was missed, ask for a catch-up plan rather than assuming that the entire series must be restarted.

Adult Vaccination Review

Adult vaccination is individualized. The relevant schedule depends on age, pregnancy, previous vaccination, occupation, chronic conditions, immune status, travel and exposure risk.

Vaccine / group Typical planning approach Important consideration
Influenza Seasonal / according to risk Consider based on age, pregnancy, occupation, chronic disease and local recommendations.
COVID-19 According to current national guidance Schedule depends on current national policy, previous vaccination and risk of severe disease.
Td/Tdap Based on vaccination history and indication May be indicated for wound management, pregnancy or routine adult protection depending on the person’s history.
Hepatitis B Risk-based Consider for people with relevant occupational, household, sexual, medical or other exposure risks.
HPV Age/risk and national programme dependent Usually planned outside pregnancy; follow current national recommendations.
MMR / Varicella Usually before pregnancy or after pregnancy when indicated These are live vaccines and are generally avoided during pregnancy.

Special Situations & Catch-Up

Situation Planning principle
Pregnancy Vaccination decisions should account for pregnancy, gestational age, previous vaccination, allergies, medical conditions and local recommendations.
Prematurity Premature infants generally need timely vaccination according to chronological age unless a specific vaccine or clinical condition requires another approach.
Missed doses Do not automatically restart a vaccine series because a dose is late. A catch-up plan should be made using the current national schedule and minimum intervals.
Chronic disease Some chronic conditions increase the importance of vaccination or change which vaccines are indicated.
Travel Travel-related vaccines depend on destination, outbreak status, age, pregnancy and individual risk; obtain travel-medicine advice before departure.
Previous severe reaction A history suggestive of anaphylaxis to a vaccine or vaccine component requires clinical assessment before another dose.

Guideline-Based Notes

India Universal Immunization Programme

India's UIP covers pregnant women and children. The National Immunization Schedule includes Td during pregnancy and routine childhood vaccines from birth through adolescence.

Pregnancy and maternal vaccination

Vaccine selection in pregnancy is not identical in every country. Inactivated influenza vaccine is recommended during pregnancy by WHO. Tdap, COVID-19 and maternal RSV vaccination are also addressed in current international guidance, but timing and programme availability should be checked locally.

Live vaccines

Live vaccines such as MMR and varicella are generally avoided during pregnancy. If a live vaccine was given inadvertently before pregnancy was recognized, the person should contact their healthcare professional for individualized counselling; inadvertent administration alone is not generally an indication for pregnancy termination.

Reminder dates are planning dates

A generated date is not a confirmed vaccination appointment. Vaccination records, minimum intervals, vaccine availability, programme changes and individual clinical factors can alter the actual date.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which vaccines are routinely given during pregnancy in India?

Under the Indian Universal Immunization Programme, Td vaccination is provided during pregnancy according to previous vaccination history. Other vaccines such as influenza, COVID-19, Tdap or RSV may be recommended depending on current national policy, product availability and clinical indication.

When should Td-2 be given in pregnancy?

The National Immunization Schedule specifies Td-2 four weeks after Td-1 when Td-2 is required.

What vaccines are given to a baby at birth in India?

The National Immunization Schedule includes BCG, the hepatitis B birth dose and OPV-0 at birth, subject to the current programme and facility availability.

Can a missed vaccination dose be given late?

A delayed dose usually does not mean that an entire series must be restarted. The appropriate catch-up interval and vaccine should be confirmed from the current national schedule or by a qualified vaccination provider.

Can I save vaccination reminders on The Vatsalyam?

Yes. Choose the reminder option and you will be directed to login.php. After login, the vaccination reminder workflow can be continued through vaccination_reminder.php.

Does this page replace a vaccination card or doctor’s advice?

No. This page is an educational planner. The vaccination card, current government schedule, vaccine availability and individual clinical assessment should be used when deciding the actual vaccination date.
